WONDERFUL SUGAR COOKIES | |
2 c. sugar 1 c. butter (I use part butter) 2 eggs 1/4 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1 c. sweet milk 5 c. sifted flour 2 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. baking powder 2 tsp. cream of tartar Cream together sugar and butter well and add remainder of ingredients. Mix well. Chill overnight. Handle tenderly when rolling out. You may need extra flour to roll out. Cut out with a cookie cutter and sprinkle tops with sugar. Use the same recipe for filled cookies. Bake at 350 degrees. FILLING FOR FILLED COOKIES: 1 c. sugar 1 c. raisins 1 tbsp. butter 1 c. water 1/2 tsp. salt 3 tbsp. vinegar 2 tbsp. flour in a little water Cook until thick. You may then add 1/2 cup nuts. |
