ORANGE FRUIT CAKE 
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 lb. orange slices (candy)
2 c. nuts
1/2 lb. dates
3 c. all-purpose flour (1/2 c. to dredge fruit)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. rum flavoring
1 can angel flake coconut

Cut orange slices, dates and nuts; dredge in flour. Cream butter, sugar and add eggs and beat well. Add soda to buttermilk, add alternately with flour, add flavoring, mix well. Add first the eggs, then add coconut. Grease tube pan well and line with wax paper. Bake 2 3/4 hours at 300 degrees.

ICING:

2 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. orange juice

Mix well and pour over cake while hot and still in the pan. Let cake cool while in pan.
