DATE BARS 
2 c. dates, remove seeds
3 tbsp. water
1 c. white sugar
3 eggs, beaten
1 c. flour
1 rounded tsp. baking powder
1 c. nut meats, chopped

Put dates and water in pan and heat, let stand to absorb water. Mix nuts and dates with flour to keep dates from sticking together. Mix everything together. Bake in pan larger than 9"x9"; grease pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes, check for doneness at 20 minutes. When done, cut into bars approximately 1/2" x 2", after cooling about 20 minutes. When still slightly warm, roll in powdered sugar.
