2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. white corn syrup
1/2 c. hot water
1 egg white
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Nuts, optional

Mix corn syrup and hot water; pour over granulated sugar in 3 quart heavy pan. Bring to a hard boil; set aside.

Beat egg white until stiff. Beat syrup mixture by hand until cloudy. Pour syrup mixture over egg white. Beat with electric mixer until gloss disappears. Beat in vanilla. Drop mixture by teaspoon onto waxed paper. Press nut into each piece. Makes 36 pieces.
