OLD FASHIONED BREAD PUDDING | |
8 slices raisin bread (lightly spread with butter) 1/2 to 3/4 c. sugar mixed with 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1 qt. milk (whole, 2 percent or skim) mixed with 2 tsp. vanilla 4 eggs beaten (or egg substitute) 1/2 tsp. salt Extra raisins or fruit to taste Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 9 x 13 inch baking dish. Cut raisin bread into quarters. Put one layer of bread in dish and sprinkle with sugar mixture and raisins. Continue alternating bread and sugar and raisin mixture until dish is full. Pour milk mixed with vanilla, salt and eggs over all, and bake until puffed and lightly brown; about 30 minutes. |
