1/2 c. shortening 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. brown sugar 2 sm. eggs 1 3/4 c. sifted flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/8 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. baking powder 7 1/2 oz. pkg. dates 1/3 c. sugar 1/2 c. water Cream shortening and sugars together until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat well. Sift together flour, soda, cinnamon, salt and baking powder. Stir into creamed mixture and blend well. Chill dough for easier handling. Roll out into a rectangle 1/4 inch thick. Spread with date filling. Roll as for cinnamon rolls, wrap in waxed paper, chill thoroughly. Slice about 1/3 inch thick. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 6-8 minutes or until done. |
