POPCORN BALLS 
2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. water
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. light corn syrup
1 tsp. vinegar
1 tsp. vanilla
5 qts. popped corn
15 to 20 candy canes

Butter sides of saucepan. Combine sugar, salt, water, syrup, and vinegar. Cook to hard ball stage (250 degrees). Stir in vanilla. Slowly pour over popped corn, stirring just to mix well. Butter hands lightly; shape into balls around the candy canes. Makes about 15-20 medium size popcorn balls.
