CHOCOLATE TORTE 
1 pkg. chocolate devils food pudding cake mix

Prepare cake mix as stated on box. Use 2 (9 inch) round cake pans.

FILLING:

1/2 of (16 oz.) jar strawberry jam or preserves
1/2-3/4 c. strawberry liqueur or use cranberry strawberry juice

Make cake mix as directed. With dental floss or string, cut 2 cakes in 1/2 making 4 rounds. Mix jar with liqueur a little at a time. Mix enough liqueur until jam is syrupy (spreadable). Spread jam over each layer except for bottom and top.

FROSTING:

3 tbsp. hot water
6 sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 1/2 c. confectioners sugar
1/2 c. softened butter (unsalted preferably)
3 eggs

In medium bowl with mixer at low speed, beat melted chocolate with sugar and 3 tablespoons hot water until blended well. Add eggs one at a time; beat well after each egg. Add butter; beat on highest speed until smooth.
