MILK MAID CARAMEL APPLES 
1 lb. Brach's Milk-Maid caramels (allow approximately 9 caramels per apple)
5 med. red apples
2 tbsp. of water (use a measuring spoon)
5 wooden sticks

Wash and dry apples; insert a stick in stem end. Put caramels and water in top of double boiler; cook over hot water using a very low flame. Stir occasionally as caramels begin to melt (should take approximately 15 minutes for caramels to melt completely). Dip apples into melted caramels, twirl once or twice until apples are well coated. Spoon caramel sauce on to completely cover apple. Place apples on butter coated wax paper and place in refrigerator until cool. For extra flavor, roll apple in chopped nuts.
