APPLE AND CREAM CHEESE COFFEE CAKE | |
1/2 c. butter, softened 1 c. sugar 1 tsp. almond extract 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 c. sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon 2 tbsp. lemon juice 1 (8 oz.) cream cheese 2 eggs 1 3/4 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/4 c. milk 2 tbsp. flour 4 c. peeled, sliced apples Dip apple slices in lemon juice and set aside. Combine butter and cream cheese in bowl. Gradually add sugar. Beat on medium speed until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Stir in almond extract. Combine 1 3/4 cups flour, baking powder, soda and salt in medium bowl. Add flour mixture to cream mixture, alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix well after each addition. Pour batter into greased and floured 13x9x2-inch baking pan. Combine 1/2 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons flour and cinnamon in small bowl. Combine apple slices in cinnamon mixture, tossing lightly to coat well. Arrange apple slices on top of batter in pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes. |
