BLACKBERRY CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1 c. Crisco
3 c. plain flour
2 c. berries (use fresh or canned unsweetened berries, save juice for icing)
3 egg yolks (save whites for icing)
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cloves

Mix above as you would for any cake. Bake in three 9 inch greased and floured cake pans at 350 degrees until done. Cool cake.

ICING:

1 c. berry juice
1 c. sugar

Boil until hard. Beat into stiffly beaten egg whites. Berry juice makes pretty pink colored icing.
