1889 ICE PUDDING 
1 qt. milk
1/2 lb. sugar
1 stick of vanilla
10 egg yolks
Gill of cream

Mix milk, sugar and vanilla. Boil 10 minutes. Mix egg yolks and a gill of cream; pour milk mixture into egg mixture. Return to pan and thicken. Do not boil, strain and cool. 2 lbs. salt

Mix ice and salt. Cover bottom of pail, place ice pot in and surround with ice. Turn until cream is thick. Cool mold, pour in cream. Cover with lid and surround with ice until needed. Unmold and serve.
