CANTONESE PORK | |
2 lbs. pork, cut in 1/2 inch cubes 1 Tbsp. shortening or drippings 1 1/2 cups chicken broth 2-4 Tbsps. soy sauce 1 pkg. dry onion soup mix 2 Tbsps. cornstarch 1/4 cup water 1 cup sliced mushrooms 1 (8 oz.) can sliced water chestnuts 1 (9 oz.) pkg. frozen snow peas or Italian green beans Brown pork cubes. Combine 1 1/2 cups liquid, soy sauce and soup mix. Stir into pork, cover and cook over low heat about 30 minutes or until pork is tender. Blend cornstarch and water until smooth. Add to meat mixture. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Then add mushrooms, water chestnuts and green beans or snow peas. Cover and cook 7 minutes. Serve over rice. |
