CALIFORNIA CASSEROLE 
2 lb. round steak, cut into strips
2 c. water
2 cans mushroom soup
1 to 1 1/2 c. onions, sliced

Coat meat with your favorite seasonings and flour. Brown. Add water, soup and onions and simmer until tender.

DUMPLINGS:

Make while meat is cooking.

1 c. milk
1/2 c. salad oil
1 tsp. celery seed
1 tsp. poultry seasoning
4 tsp. baking powder
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. onion flakes
1/3 c. melted butter
1 1/2 c. bread crumbs

Combine milk, oil and dry ingredients, folding to moisten. When meat is ready, bring to boil and transfer to casserole dish. Drop dumplings by tablespoons into melted butter, then roll in bread crumbs. Place them onto meat mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Yield 8 servings.
