1 box German chocolate cake mix
14 oz. bag caramels
1 stick butter
1/3 c. milk
1 c. chopped pecans
3/4 c. chocolate chips

Follow directions on box for mixing. Pour HALF into prepared cake pan and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. While cake is baking, combine caramels, butter and milk; melt together in top of double boiler (or microwave). Stir in pecans.

Take baked cake out of oven. Turn oven down to 250 degrees. Pour caramel mixture on top of baked cake, then pour remaining cake mix over. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top and bake for 20 minutes at 250 degrees, then turn oven up to 350 degrees and bake 10 minutes longer.
