APPLE UPSIDE DOWN CAKE 
2 med. apples, peeled, cored
2 tbsp. butter, melted
1/3 c. Karo light or dark corn syrup
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
2 1/4 c. buttermilk baking mix
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. ground allspice
1 egg
3/4 c. milk

Cut apples, crosswise into 9 slices in 8"x8"x2" baking dish mix butter and next 3 ingredients. Arrange apple slices in bottom of dish. Sprinkle with nuts. Bake in 350 degree oven 15 minutes.

In large bowl mix next 3 ingredients. Beat together egg and milk. Add to dry mixture and stir until moistened. Pour over hot apple slices. Bake in 350 degree oven 35 minutes or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. Loosen edges, invert on serving platter and cool 10 minutes. Remove from baking dish. Serve warm. Makes 9 servings.
