MARINARA SAUCE 
2 tbsp. olive oil
1/3 c. chopped onion
1 can (16 oz.) whole tomatoes, undrained
1 can (6 oz.) tomato paste
1 tbsp. sugar
3/4 tsp. salt or salt substitute
1/2 tsp. basil
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
Pepper to taste

Cook onion in olive oil over medium heat, stirring occasionally until onion is translucent. Stir in tomatoes, breaking them up with a spoon, tomato paste, sugar, salt, basil, garlic powder and pepper until well mixed. Reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Yield: 2 1/3 cups.
