BLACK WALNUT CAKE 
1 c. coconut
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 unbeaten eggs
1/3 c. strong coffee (hot)
1 tsp. black walnut flavoring
1/2 c. black walnuts
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. Crisco
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Mix all ingredients and bake 375 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.

ICING:

Boil: 3/4 c. water 1 tbsp. white Karo Dash of salt

Boil until threads a hair (or soft ball). Pour over 2 beaten egg whites. Add black walnut flavoring. Beat until spreading consistency. Frost cake. Sprinkle with nuts.
