1 c. vegetable shortening (Crisco)
2 eggs, well beaten
1/2 c. Grandma's molasses (or any other brand of molasses)

Beat sugar and shortening together until creamy. Add egg and molasses. Then add dry ingredients to the above. Sift all dry ingredients together:

4 c. flour
4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. ginger

Cover and refrigerate 1 hour. Roll into balls about 1 inch with hands. Roll balls in granulated sugar, press down. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet, about 2 inches apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Place on rack to cool. Depending on size, this recipe should make about 60 cookies.
