GRANDMA'S MOLASSES COOKIES | |
2 c. sugar 1 c. vegetable shortening (Crisco) 2 eggs, well beaten 1/2 c. Grandma's molasses (or any other brand of molasses) Beat sugar and shortening together until creamy. Add egg and molasses. Then add dry ingredients to the above. Sift all dry ingredients together: 4 c. flour 4 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. salt 2 tsp. ginger Cover and refrigerate 1 hour. Roll into balls about 1 inch with hands. Roll balls in granulated sugar, press down. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet, about 2 inches apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Place on rack to cool. Depending on size, this recipe should make about 60 cookies. NOTE: After rolling balls in granulated sugar, using your thumb, dent center of ball, then press down lightly with hand. |
