SANTA CLAUS COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 3/4 c. sifted flour
Pinch salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
Dash allspice
1 c. butter
Grated rind of 1 lemon
1 egg

Mix together the dry ingredients. Work in the butter and lemon rind. Add the egg. Knead together and roll out thin. Cut into any desired shape and chill. Bake on greased tin in 350 degree oven until brown, about 10 to 14 minutes. Keep cookies in a jar, as they must be crisp.
