BREAD & BUTTER PICKLE | |
4 qt. thinly sliced cucumbers 6 med. onions, sliced 1 green pepper, cut in strips 1/3 c. coarse pickling salt 5 c. sugar 3 c. vinegar 1 1/2 tsp. celery seed 2 tbsp. mustard seed 1 1/2 tsp. turmeric Combine sliced vegetables and salt. Cover with layers of ice and water. Let set 3 hours. Drain, add rest of ingredients and bring to boil. Put pickles and hot syrup into sterilized pints. Hot water bath 10 minutes. Makes 6 to 8 pints. |
