JAM CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. blackberry jam
3 c. flour
3 eggs
1/2 tsp. spices as taste
1 c. nuts
1 c. dates

Cream butter and sugar; add beaten eggs. Add blackberry jam. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with buttermilk. Add nuts and dates. Bake in 3 layers at 350 degrees until the cake bounces back up when touched.
