HOLIDAY FRUIT COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. soft butter
2 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. milk
1 c. chopped candied red or green cherries
1 c. dark raisins or dates
1 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
2 c. oatmeal, quick or reg.

Cream the sugar and shortening. Add eggs and beat well. Add the sifted together dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk. Stir in coconut, raisins, oatmeal and cherries. Use hands for mixing. Chill the dough for 1 hour. Drop onto greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Don't let the cookies get too brown. Yield: 6 to 7 dozen.
