JO'S POUND CAKE | |
2 sticks butter 1/2 c. Crisco 2 2/3 c. sugar 5 lg. eggs 3 c. flour 1 c. milk 2 tsp. vanilla flavoring 1 tsp. lemon flavoring 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking powder Beat butter and Crisco until smooth. Add sugar, little at a time, beat in eggs, one at a time. Sift flour, salt and baking powder several times. Add little flour, then milk, until all is mixed. Start with flour and end with flour. Add flavoring. Bake in tube pan, greased and floured at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. For chocolate pound cake use 3 cups of sugar instead of 2 2/3 cups. Add 1/2 cup cocoa to flour when sifting. |
