ROUX FOR GUMBOS OR STEWS 
1/2 c. oil
1/2 c. flour

Microwave on high in 2-cup glass measure, stirring at 2 minute intervals until it begins to brown. Then reduce time to 1 minute, watching carefully until done. Light roux about 10 minutes. Dark roux about 12 minutes.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
