2 1/2 c. flour
2 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. shortening
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. sour milk
2 eggs, beaten

Combine flour, brown sugar, salt and shortening; mix until crumbly. Reserve 1/2 cup of crumb mixture to sprinkle over top. To remaining crumbs add baking powder, soda and spices; mix thoroughly. Add milk and eggs; stir well. Put in 2 layer pans sprinkle with crumbs. Bake in 375 degree oven for 30 minutes.
