COCOA BROWNIES
3/4 c. cocoa unsweetened powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2/3 c. butter, separated
1/2 c. boiling water
1 3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/3 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. nuts, chopped (opt.)
10 oz. pkg. chocolate chips (opt.)

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13"x9" pan.

In mixing bowl combine cocoa and baking soda; blend in 1/3 cup melted butter. Add boiling water; stir mixture until thick.

Stir in sugar, eggs and remaining 1/3 cup butter until smooth.

Add flour, vanilla and salt; blend until smooth. Stir in nuts and chocolate pieces, if desired. Pour mixture into greased pan.

Bake 35 to 40 minutes.

Cool brownies completely in pan. Cut into squares. Makes about 3 dozen brownies. This is a great antidote when hit by a "snack attach".
