I grow up on these cookies (I'm 43) and so did my Grandma who was born in 1906 (God rest her beloved soul) so these are not a mutant cookie over the decades after all.. it's just the region you grow up in. thank God for these beautifull cookies for bringing generations togather..also 3 mins boil is the way Grandma showed me, and I showed my daughter.

I put in pumpkin and took out the PB, *since I can't have p* and it turned out amazing. I also added pumpkin pie spice. So good

Hey! I love your recipe! I know most people do 1 minute but 5 minutes didn't harm them they were great!

This is the same recipe I have used since I was a child (with regular milk instead) and I love them!! The only thing different I do is boil them for only 3 full minutes! They always turn out perfect!

Pet milk is the equivalent to evaporated milk. Pet milk is a brand-name for it and is one of the leading evaporated milk sellers. Just like how some poeple call washer machine detergent "Downy".

I love the no bake cookies, every Christmas time my female friends and family get together and bake for umpteen hours all weekend before the holiday.

I would like to know if anybody knows how to make these with Splenda or any other sugar substitute as I have people in my life who like these but are also diabetic and would like to find a way to make these for them.

 Marilyn Miller (Utah) replies:
Dawnita, for diabetics or others who want a sugar substitute I use agave natural syrup (top shelf usually in sugar isle) It doesn't spike insulin or change your natural body chemistry in anyway, shape' or form and is also 25% more sweet than sugar so you can use less. This substitute works really well and is actually "BETTER" than sugar.Try it you'll love what it doesn't do, also, it's caloric value is a lot less than sugar. MM Yummy Stuff that Agave.

Forget the timing; just cook them to the softball stage. The cookies are essentially fudge w/ added stuff.

pet milk is just the brand name of evaporated milk...

Has anyone tried this with ALMOND BUTTER in place of peanut butter?

We have been making these for decades, popular request... always: bring to boil first 4 ingredients, then BOIL timed 1 minute in winter/1 minute 10 seconds in humid summer weather. Then stir in PB, 3 cups QUICK Oats, vanilla, 1/2 cup any dried fruit (optional).

I used 2% milk instead of evaporated, 3/4 cup butter, 1 cup white sugar, 3/4 cup light brown sugar. (cooked for three minutes) added peanut butter and stirred until melted. My "dry" ingredients that I mixed at the end included 2 cups oats (not the quick cooking kind!) and then a combination of pecans and coconut flakes to total 4 cups. They turned out perfect!

I've been making these for 35 years and I've put everything you can think of in them. Substituting one cup of the oats for one cup of rice crispies cereal makes the best ones. It gives them a bit of a crunch, like a Hershey's Krackle bar.

In response to the boiling time. Cook the mixture until it comes to full rolling boil, then boil for 1 minute, take the mixture of the stove, add the peanut butter, oatmeal and the vanilla. Mix well. Then immediately drop by spoonfuls on wax paper. Also I use 2% milk not pet milk.

I have been making these since I was a child. I have found adjusting the amount of milk to just a little under 1/2 cup keeps them from being gooey. I have never cooked it over 1 minute and they always turn out fine. Just adjust the milk according to how humid an area you live in.
