FRESH APPLE CAKE | |
2 sticks of butter 2 lg. eggs 1/2 tsp. salt 2 1/2 c. finely chopped apples 1 c. chopped black walnuts 2 c. sugar 1 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. baking powder 2 1/2 c. flour Cream butter and sugar together; add eggs, beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients. Fold in apples and nuts (batter will be stiff). Pour into greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan and smooth out. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees. Serve plain or glaze. GLAZE: 2 c. confectioners' sugar 2 tbsp. water 2 tbsp. white syrup 2 tbsp. soft butter 1 tsp. lemon extract |
