WAIKIKI MEATBALLS (SWEET AND
SOUR MEATBALLS)
 
1/2 lb. ground meat
2/3 c. bread crumbs
1/3 c. minced onions
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/4 c. milk
1 tbsp. shortening
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 (13 1/2 oz.) can pineapple tidbits
1/3 c. vinegar
1 tbsp. soy sauce
1/3 c. minced green pepper

Mix meat, bread crumbs, onion, salt, egg, ginger, and milk. Form into small balls and fry with 1 tablespoon of shortening. Drain pineapple tidbits. Mix sugar, cornstarch, vinegar, and soy sauce. Stir in pineapple juice and mix until smooth. Pour into a skillet on medium heat until thickened. Boil 1 minute; then add meatballs, green pepper, and pineapple tidbits.
