ALICE'S MEATBALLS | |
2 lbs. hamburger 1/2 lb. bulk sausage Salt and pepper 1 c. bread crumbs 2 tbsp. minced onion or 1 med. onion, chopped 5 eggs Flour 1 sm. jar grape jelly 1/2 bottle chili sauce Mix together hamburger and sausage, adding dashes of salt and pepper. Stir in bread crumbs and onion. Add eggs and mix with hands. Scoop with tablespoon and roll mix into balls so they're firm. Coat balls by rolling in flour. Brown balls in pan well coated with butter. Pack balls in a roaster and bake at 325- 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Mix together jelly and chili sauce in a pan. Bring just to a boil and remove from heat. Pour sauce over meat and marinate at least 3 hours. After marinating, bake meatballs for one hour at 200 degrees. (Best to be made and re-warmed the next day, but don't make chili/jam sauce until ready to use.) |
