SHORT BREAD 
1 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. plus 2 tbsp. confectioners' sugar
2 c. flour

Preheat oven to 350. Place butter in bowl, sift sugar into it. Mix butter and sugar together. Add sifted flour. Blend thoroughly. Dough will form a ball. Do not over work dough or it will toughen. Roll out to round or oblong 1/2 inch thick. Mark with a sharp knife (don't cut all the way through). Prick with a fork. Bake 25-30 minutes or until edges are golden. Cut straight away with knife. Sprinkle with sugar.
