ENGLISH LEMON TEA CAKE 
1 c. softened butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix flour, baking powder and salt; add alternately with milk to butter mixture. Pour batter in greased 9 x 5 x 3 pan.

Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Lemon Glaze:

1/3 c. sugar
1/4 c. lemon juice
2 tsp. lemon peel

Heat to boiling and pour over cake as soon as it leaves oven. Cool cake in pan.
