NO COOK SWEET PICKLES 
whole cucumbers
salt
alum (1/2 box to 1 gal. water)
vinegar
sugar

Wash cucumbers and put in salt water; when whole egg will float in water, it has enough salt. Soak 6 to 7 days. Drain saltwater and rinse; slice.

Put in alum water. Soak 24 hours then drain and rinse again. Put in a pan covered with vinegar and soak 6 hours. Drain, but do not rinse.

Put a layer of cucumbers (about 1-inch thick layers), a layer of sugar until you use all of them. Let them set until they make enough juice to can. Add sugar along if needed.
