ENGLISH TOFFEE 
1 c. sugar
1 c. butter
3 tsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped nuts

Combine sugar, butter and water in heavy saucepan. Cook to 300 degrees (hard crack) stirring constantly. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Remove from heat. Pour into buttered 9x9 inch pan. Sprinkle with chocolate chips spreading them as they melt. Sprinkle with chopped nuts and press them down slightly. Cool.
