HOMEMADE BREAD 
1/2 c. warm water
2 pkgs. dry yeast
1 1/2 c. water
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1/2 c. Crisco or any shortening
6 level c. flour

Soak yeast in 1/2 cup warm water 10 minutes with 1 teaspoon sugar in it. Then add the water, sugar, salt, slightly beaten eggs and the room temperature shortening. Stir good and add flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until you have smooth dough. (I use my mixer to do this.)

Put dough in a gallon crock or bowl and let rise until double. Push down and let rise again. Then make rolls or bread. Let rise to bake. (Loaves 350 degrees for 30 minutes; rolls 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes - depends on your oven.)
