FRESH APPLE PIE
6 or 7 apples
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 (9 inch) pie shell

Peel apples and slice. I like to use Granny Smith's apples but any kind will do. Mix the sugar and flour together and mix apple slices with the cinnamon and nutmeg. Put in the 9 inch pie shell and dot apples with butter. Seal the edges and make slits in the top. Sprinkle sugar over the crust. Bake at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes, then turn oven to 350 degrees and bake until apples are tender and top is brown. Lay a piece of foil over top of pie to keep top crust from burning. Do not seal, just lay over the top, if needed.
