MARTHA WASHINGTON CAKE | |
1/2 c. butter 1 c. light brown sugar 3 egg yolks 1 1/2 c. flour 4 tbsp. cocoa 3 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 3/4 c. sweet milk 1 tbsp. vanilla Cream butter, brown sugar, and egg yolks together until light and fluffy. Sift together flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Add flour mixture to first 3 ingredients with milk and vanilla. Beat 2 minutes. Beat egg whites until stiff, fold into batter. Bake at 350 degrees until done. FILLING: 1 c. sugar 1 1/2 c. sweet milk 2 eggs 3 tbsp. flour 1 tsp. vanilla Chopped peanuts Cook sugar, milk, eggs, and flour in double boiler until thick. Add vanilla and peanuts. Spread between layers, add some peanuts. Then spread on top and sides and sprinkle with chopped peanuts. |
