Serve with roast beef

Brown sugar
Butter

Pile a casserole dish high with layers of sliced onions. They shrink a lot, so add more after they have cooked awhile. Sprinkle each layer with brown sugar and dot with butter. No liquid is needed, as they make their own juice. Bake uncovered for about an hour and a half while your meat is roasting.
