OLD FASHION STACK CAKE 
Cake:

4 c. flour
1 1/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. molasses
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs (unbeaten), just break up
1/2 c. soft butter
1 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. vanilla

Sift flour into large bowl, adding dry ingredients in order given. Mix quickly and thoroughly into soft dough.

Bake in thin layers of any size you want.

Grease and flour pans well.

Bake at 450°F for about 10 minutes. When all layers are baked and cooled, stack with apple filling and let set for 24 hours before cutting.

Apple Filling:

1 lb. dried tart apples, cooked
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tbsp. vanilla

Wash apples, cover with cold water and let stand overnight. Cook over low heat until tender and dry in same water. Mash or run through a sieve. Add sugar and spices. Simmer on low heat until thoroughly blended. Remove from heat and let cool before using on cake.
