2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Beat sugar, shortening and eggs together until creamy. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and add to with milk and vanilla. Bake about 30 minutes. Whatever size pan or pans. I use a 13 x 9 inch pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Bessie Shinn's recipe.
