APPLE CRISP 
6 apples, Rome or Granny Smith
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. lemon juice
1/2 c. sugar
Dash of salt
1/4 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
3/4 c. flour
6 tbsp. butter

Mix together apples, 1/2 cup sugar, cloves, cinnamon and lemon juice; place in greased deep dish. For topping, mix remaining ingredients well and spread over top of apple mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until apples are tender. Garnish with whipped cream, ice cream or Cool Whip. Serves 6 to 8.
