TEXAS CORNBREAD 
2 c. self-rising cornmeal
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. pepper
1 can cream style corn
1 green pepper, diced
1 lg. onion, diced
8 oz. sour cream
3 eggs, beaten
3/4 c. corn oil
3/4 c. cheddar cheese
3 tbsp. shortening

Melt 3 tablespoons shortening in pan. Mix all other ingredients together and pour into pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 minutes.
