DATE AND NUT TORTE | |
1 c. chopped dates 1 tsp. baking soda 1 c. boiling water 1 tbsp. butter 1 c. sugar 2 eggs, well beaten 1 c. flour 1 c. nutmeats, cut in pieces Add soda to dates, pour boiling water over and allow to stand 1 hour. Cream butter, add sugar, eggs, flour, dates and nutmeats. Spread in buttered pan (8 inch square) 3/4 inch thick and bake 40 minutes in slow oven (325 degrees). Cut in squares, serve with whipped cream. Serves 8. |
