1 1/2 c. sugar (white)
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

Mix shortening, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in raisin liquid. Measure flour by dipping method or by sifting. Stir together flour, baking powder, soda, salt, and spices; blend in. Add rolled oats, nuts, and raisins. Drop by teaspoons onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 8- 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Makes 5-6 dozen cookies.
