GERMAN APPLE PUDDING CAKE 
Cake:

2 cups peeled diced apples
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup flour
1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup nuts (chopped)
3/4 cup raisins
1 teaspoon vanilla

Mix apples and sugar together. Let stand until sugar is thoroughly dissolved. Add eggs and mix well. Sift dry ingredients together. Stir into apple mixture. Add nuts, raisins, and vanilla. Pour into 8 X 8 inch pan which is slightly oiled.

Bake at 375°F for 40 - 45 minutes. If preferred use unsweetened can sliced apples instead of fresh apples.

Topping:

1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup water
1/2 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1/4 pound butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup raisins

Mix sugar, water and flour. Cook until slightly thick and clear. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir until butter has melted. Pour over hot baked cake while still in pan.
