1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. sour cream or sour milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. flour
2 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
12 oz. chocolate morsels, optional
2 c. raisins, optional

Mix together shortening, sugar and eggs. Stir in sour cream or sour milk, vanilla and 1/2 cup flour. Sift together 2 3/4 cups flour, soda, salt and baking powder; stir into first mixture.

Drop by rounded teaspoons about 2 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake until delicately browned, approximately 8-10 minutes at 425 degrees.
