FRUIT TOPPING 
1/2 stick butter
1/4 c. pure maple syrup
2 ripe bananas, peeled and sliced
2 lg., red delicious apples (peeled and cut in chunks)
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Melt butter in frying pan, add fruit, simmer partially covered. After a few minutes add maple syrup and nutmeg. The apples will become almost a complete puree. Uncover and stir. The bananas should be very soft. Remove from heat and cool. Put in a jar with tight fitting lid. Keep refrigerated. Use on vanilla ice cream for dessert or oatmeal at breakfast.
