MY MOTHER'S BREAD & BUTTER
PICKLES
 
4 qts. of 7 inch cucumbers (about 15 sliced)
6 med. onions, sliced
1 green & red pepper, sliced or pimento
Add 1/3 c. salt & cover all of above with ice
5 c. sugar
3 c. white vinegar
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
1 tbsp. mustard seed

Boil sugar, vinegar, turmeric, celery seed, and mustard seed together. Drain cucumbers, rinse, pour syrup over all and bring back to a boil. Fill sterile jars and let stand for a few weeks before eating. Crisp and delicious.
