2 c. sugar
2 c. raisins
1 c. shortening
2 c. water
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda

Bring first 6 ingredients to a boil. Let cool then add last 2 ingredients and bake in a greased cake pan at 350 degrees until done. This is a fairly solid cake very good with coffee or a white frosting.
